 ON its 2002 sophomore effort,
Stanley
Climbfall, and in particular lead single
Spin, Lifehouse looked like a band
intent on moving beyond its hook-y
post-grunge comfort zone. Frontman
Jason Wade even seemed like a smart
boy planning a Daniel Johns-style
renovation job. Five years and two
albums on though, the change has
still not come.
In fact, Lifehouse, clearly oblivious
to trends in modern rock, appears
content to peddle its brand of unadventurous albeit hook-y post-grunge
for the people who keep sending it
back up the charts. And yes, in case
you're wondering, there are many,
many people keeping Lifehouse in business!
They're the ones who caused Who We Are to debut at No. 14 on The
Billboard 200. And they're the same ones who won't care that all the songs
on this record, including lead single First Time, sound dated, same-y
and most of all, uninspired. |
