THE Klaxons are said to be the pioneers of "nu
rave", but there is not much rave in their
debut album Myths of the Near Future. Instead,
this album is for the rock fans who wants
something different, as from head to it does
not disappoint at all.
The songs are futuristic, energetic, groovy
and the music is pretty catchy although the
lyrics might not make sense. To me, this band
seems to be a cross between two fun-loving
bands - The Darkness and Space. The standout
tracks for me are the opener Two Receivers,
Atlantis to Interzone and Totem on the Timeline.
The other songs are not too bad either,
although most of the songs sound similar.
It's an impressive debut for the Londoners
who have already sold out gigs in Australia,
Europe and Japan. Don't be surprised if you
hear more of the Klaxons in the coming
months. I'm not sure what genre this album
really belongs to, but I would heartily recommend it to those who love the Brit
scene. |
